Description

This is a high-impact, 100% lab-based role designed for a detail-oriented life sciences professional looking to contribute to critical research workflows. As part of a collaborative scientific team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of biochemical assays and tissue processing. The role focuses on high-precision tasks such as tissue homogenization and protein quantification, requiring a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to master specialized instrumentation like the Tecan Spark and ultracentrifuges. This position offers the opportunity to maintain high standards of lab safety and data integrity within a BSL-2 environment while working directly with senior scientists to meet experimental timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and precise experimental records using electronic lab notebooks (e.g., Signals) to ensure data traceability.
  • Execute tissue homogenization using various manual methods like cryopulverization and Dounce, as well as mechanical tools like the Qiagen TissueLyser.
  • Manage the processing and accurate labeling of large volumes of BSL-2 level samples, including human and rodent-derived materials.
  • Conduct biochemical assay workflows, specifically focusing on Pierce Dilution-Free Rapid Gold BCA protein assays.
  • Perform detergent-based extraction techniques using RIPA, Triton X-100, and other chemical reagents.
  • Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, including sonicators, ultracentrifuges, and the Tecan Spark for data capture.
  • Utilize GraphPad Prism for data analysis and Microsoft Office for routine data handling and team communication.
  • Adhere strictly to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards and biosafety protocols to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team scientists to align on assay requirements and ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Perform routine decontamination and maintenance of shared laboratory equipment to ensure operational readiness.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in life science-related fields.
  • Note: Candidates with a PhD will not be considered for this specific role.

Experience

  • 1–2 years of hands-on laboratory experience in either an academic or industrial setting.
  • Proven experience or demonstrated aptitude in protein quantification and biochemical assays.
  • Experience working within a BSL-2 environment or a strong willingness to work with human and rodent-derived materials.

Additional Information

  • Work Commitment: This is an in-person, on-site role with an expectation of 80% to 100% in-lab work.
  • Compliance: Candidates must be comfortable adhering to strict GLP and decontamination procedures.
  • Logistics: The position requires the ability to adapt readily to evolving experimental needs and shifting program priorities.
