Scientist - II

Join a dynamic, cross-functional team dedicated to the advancement of animal health through the development and maintenance of critical veterinary biological products. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues across Research & Development, Production, Quality Control, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure the integrity and compliance of reference standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented scientist to apply their laboratory expertise in a highly regulated environment, directly impacting the formulation of new vaccines and the stability of established products while maintaining strict adherence to USDA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Participate in cross-functional teams to qualify new reference standards in collaboration with R&D and Quality Control.
• Maintain rigorous compliance with USDA guidelines for all reference standards and in vitro potency testing protocols.
• Prepare and test small-scale vaccines to support the precise formulation of new reference standards.
• Execute the formulation, dispensing, and testing phases of the reference qualification process.
• Manage the routine maintenance and stability testing of reference standards to ensure long-term validity.
• Conduct clinical sample testing and analyze data to support the qualification of new standards.
• Assist in the preparation of technical data packages, protocols, and reports for submission to the USDA.
• Provide essential technical support for approved Quality Control assays and various global program initiatives.

Education

• B.S. or M.S. degree in a relevant biological area such as Bacteriology, Biology, Microbiology, or Virology.

Experience

• Required: 1–3 years of laboratory experience, ideally within the animal health industry, including mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique.
• Required: Proficiency in immunological assay platforms (ELISA, serum neutralization) and/or cell-based functional in vitro assays.
• Technical: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data compilation and reporting.
• Preferred: Proven ability to independently design scientific experiments and troubleshoot analytical methods.
• Preferred: Previous experience working within an R&D or Quality Control laboratory setting.

Additional Information

• Regulatory Focus: Deep knowledge of USDA regulations for veterinary biological products is highly preferred.
• Communication: Requires a strong skillset in both written and oral communication to effectively interpret results for stakeholders.
