Scientist - I

The Downstream Processing Laboratory Associate conducts lab-scale purification and downstream processing of vaccine process intermediates within a compliant laboratory environment. Responsible for setting up process equipment, preparing reagents and culture media, and performing process monitoring assays, this role plays a key part in advancing biologics candidate production. Working flexibly both independently and as part of a collaborative team, the position ensures accurate data analysis, spreadsheet management, clear reporting to client staff members, and strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Responsibilities

• Perform lab-scale downstream processing of vaccine process intermediates and execute process monitoring assays.
• Setup and operate process equipment for lab-scale biologics purification experiments.
• Prepare laboratory reagents, solutions, and culture media according to precise protocol guidelines.
• Operate specialized equipment, including tangential flow filtration (TFF) systems, and utilize general laboratory tools such as pipettes.
• Analyze, collate, track, and report experimental data back to client staff members using linked Excel spreadsheets and custom formulas.
• Maintain complete, accurate records and test results in strict compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with client staff members, ensuring clear documentation, timely task execution, and seamless workflow coordination.

Education

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Bio/Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.

Experience

• 0–3 years of professional work experience, with at least 6 months of related laboratory experience (preferably performing biologics purification steps).
• Core proficiency in general laboratory techniques, including pipetting and solution preparation.
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) operations is preferred.
• Strong computer proficiency, including experience using complex formulas and linking spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping abilities.
• Demonstrated self-motivation, adaptability, positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
