Description
Merck’s Cell Culture and Purification Process Development team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Support Associate to join our biologics development organization. This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in a professional laboratory environment, supporting the development and commercialization of Merck’s life-saving therapeutics. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining laboratory infrastructure, managing equipment and inventory, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across multiple labs. This position is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills, enthusiasm for lab work, and an eagerness to develop new technical capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate, quality check, and maintain laboratory equipment, including analytical instruments used in cell culture.
- Maintain accurate records and logbook entries for equipment maintenance and calibration activities.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and coordinate repairs, moves, and disposals.
- Partner with external vendors to schedule preventative maintenance and service.
- Author and update internal documentation related to equipment use and maintenance.
- Prepare and manage labels for samples across multiple laboratories.
- Maintain inventories of consumables, chemicals, and reagents; order and track supplies as needed.
- Prepare and replenish reagent stocks and ensure supplies are organized and available.
- Manage shipping and receiving activities for laboratory equipment and samples.
- Comply with safety procedures, GLP guidelines, and company laboratory standards.
- Maintain flexibility to support a dynamic laboratory environment and shifting priorities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience
- 0–3 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with cell culture, aseptic techniques, chromatography, bioreactor operations/control systems, or Microsoft Power Platform is a plus.
