Quality Control Lab Assistant

The Quality Control Lab Assistant plays a critical operational support role in maintaining a clean, organized, and fully compliant laboratory environment. Assisting daily lab operations through media preparation, sterilization, equipment decontamination, and inventory management, this position ensures that workspaces, materials, and equipment strictly adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Working closely with laboratory personnel, you will help optimize lab workflow and maintain high standards of laboratory readiness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory workspaces, preparation areas, storage rooms, and lab kitchen areas in a clean, orderly, and compliant condition.
• Perform decontamination and operate autoclaves and sterilization equipment following approved safety procedures and maintaining accurate logs.
• Assist laboratory staff with microbiological and analytical media preparation, including measuring, weighing, mixing, labeling, and storing components.
• Wash, sanitize, prep, and restock laboratory glassware, containers, instruments, and consumables across the facility.
• Monitor supply inventory levels, track replenishment needs, and dispose of laboratory waste per biosafety and environmental procedures.
• Ensure all actions adhere strictly to laboratory safety, biosafety, and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) guidelines.
• Verify proper functioning of sterilization equipment, reporting malfunctions, and supporting routine equipment maintenance.
• Support routine laboratory inspections and participate in ongoing training and process improvement initiatives.

Education

• Minimum Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related science field.

Experience

• Previous experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, healthcare, food production, or similar regulated environment is preferred.
• Practical experience operating autoclaves or industrial sterilization equipment is desirable.

Additional Information

• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week with a flexible morning shift start (6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM CST).
• Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting/carrying lab supplies up to 20–25 lbs.
• Working Environment: Onsite laboratory environment requiring compliance with PPE, handling of cleaning agents, and biosafety protocols.
