Description
Merck’s Biomarker Operations Department is seeking a motivated professional to support the operational setup and management of biomarker specimens collected in clinical trials. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with clinical teams, central labs, and vendors to ensure biomarker assays are conducted efficiently and in compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The position provides excellent exposure to clinical study operations, project management, and scientific workflows, making it ideal for individuals looking to expand their career in clinical research operations.
Responsibilities
- Review clinical protocols to ensure biomarker requirements are clearly defined.
- Review and contribute to trial-related documents such as Procedure Documents, Laboratory Manuals, Site Operating Manuals, and eCRFs.
- Draft and review Scopes of Work (SOWs) for biomarker assays.
- Assist with logistical setup of biomarker assays and coordinate data return with central laboratories and vendors.
- Support execution of retrospective genomic and proteomic assays.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely achievement of clinical project objectives.
- Contribute to the implementation of biomarker strategy in line with regulatory, quality, and ethical standards.
Education
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent in a scientific or technological field
- (PhD, MD, or Doctorate degrees are not eligible for this role.)
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience with clinical trial setup and execution.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite; experience with document review software a plus.
- Clinical study, lab, or project management experience preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong organizational skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to navigate and balance conflicting stakeholder needs.
- Skilled at identifying, resolving, or escalating study-related issues.
- Quick learner with adaptability to shifting priorities.
Additional Information
- Hybrid role: 3 days/week onsite (Monday–Thursday).
- Location options: Upper Gwynedd, PA or Rahway, NJ.
- Some travel required between these sites.
