Description

  • This role may be fully remote, or in-person as needed at the Upper Gwynedd, PA or Rahway, NJ sites. (Local candidates will be considered first)

 

The Global Scientific & Value Content Ophthalmology team is seeking a Scientific Content Writer for a Product Scientific Specialist I (Contractor) role. In this vital position, you will translate complex disease and product data into high-quality medical information content for use by internal colleagues and external healthcare professionals. You will join a team dedicated to delivering accurate, scientific messaging to key leaders in the medical industry. The ideal candidate is a self-driven communicator who excels at storytelling through slide decks and medical letters, ensuring all content remains current with the latest data releases.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create and update medical information letters, slide decks, and FAQ documents based on the release of new clinical data.
  • Manage the lifecycle of medical content by monitoring monthly expiration reports and initiating necessary updates.
  • Navigate content through formal review and approval processes to ensure compliance and scientific accuracy.
  • Conduct independent literature searches to identify and incorporate relevant new information into existing documents.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to plan and strategize long-term content development.
  • Fact-check and summarize complex scientific data into digestible formats for field medical personnel.
  • Maintain a rigorous organization of tasks to consistently meet expiration deadlines and data release milestones.
  • Utilize strong writing and editing skills to ensure all medical communications are professional and scientifically sound.
  • Problem-solve issues related to the scope of work and proactively seek guidance from management when needed.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a scientific field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical writing experience within a medical communications group.
  • Proven experience creating materials specifically for Medical Information or Field Medical Personnel (e.g., FAQ documents, slide decks).
  • Previous involvement with Veeva Vault MedComms and EndNote is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting Ophthalmology-related (Retina) diseases or products is a strong plus.
  • Note: This role focuses on medical communications; SOP or regulatory document writing experience is not required.

Additional Information

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly PowerPoint, is essential.
  • Logistics: Requires a flexible, organized individual capable of completing assignments in a timely manner within a fast-paced environment.
