Maintenance Engineer


Position Description:


The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal operation and reliability of manufacturing equipment through preventive and corrective maintenance, technical troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will provide electrical and mechanical support to manufacturing operations, utilities, and infrastructure, contributing to safety, quality, and productivity objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


• Respond to and assist with recovery and repair of production and utility equipment failures
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using both basic and advanced tools and techniques
• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs based on OEM and engineering specifications
• Fabricate components to specific tolerances using shop tools including mills, lathes, drill presses, and welding equipment
• Utilize SAP or equivalent CMMS to manage work orders and document maintenance activities
• Support training of operators in autonomous maintenance practices
• Participate in TPM/Lean improvement initiatives and cross-functional problem-solving
• Maintain compliance with safety standards including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, and permit-to-work systems
• Work weekends and extended shifts as needed to meet business requirements


Skills & Qualifications

 

Required Skills:


• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Proficient with AC/DC circuits, motor controls, PLCs, and industrial automation
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drive systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics
• Familiar with test instruments (amp meter, megger, etc.)
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and NEC standards
• Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Knowledge of SAP or other CMMS platforms
• TPM/Lean manufacturing experience
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Able to operate unsupervised and reprioritize as needed
• Hands-on approach with a continuous improvement mindset

 

Preferred Skills:

 


• Certifications in OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, Arc Flash Training
• 3rd Grade Boiler License
• Familiarity with Safety Relays and External Device Monitoring
• Knowledge of automated control systems and electromechanical instrumentation

 


Education:

 


• High School Diploma with a minimum of 7 years of manufacturing experience
• OR Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience
• OR Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience
