Description
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Laboratory Technician, where you will play a vital role in the production of essential veterinary vaccines. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to work in a high-tech, aseptic cleanroom environment, utilizing specialized equipment to manage cell culture processes throughout the manufacturing cycle. Responsibilities
- Perform critical laboratory procedures including aseptic work, media preparation, and antigen inoculation and harvest.
- Execute cell culture and tissue culture preparation and harvest tasks while utilizing embryonic eggs for virus propagation.
- Operate and maintain technical equipment such as pH meters, UniFuges, and sterilization systems.
- Maintain accurate and reliable record-keeping, including charts, logbooks, and all pertinent GMP documentation.
- Follow strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times.
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize glassware and equipment to ensure a sterile production environment.
- Communicate any unusual or non-routine occurrences effectively to department supervision.
- Handle hazardous materials, including Isopropyl Alcohol, Hydrogen Peroxide, and Phenolic Disinfectants, according to safety protocols.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field or commensurate professional experience.
Experience
- Required: Prior experience in a lab-based setting and familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Required: Experience with SAP software and a proven ability to follow complex SOPs.
- Highly Desirable: Experience in cell culturing and working within an aseptic/cleanroom environment.
- Preferred: Knowledge of vaccine manufacturing and experience with pH meters and UniFuge equipment.
Additional Information
- Shift Schedule: This position follows a "stretch" schedule consisting of four 10-hour shifts per week.
- Physical Requirements: Candidates must successfully pass a physical abilities test prior to starting on-site.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills are essential for success in this role.
- Work Environment: This role involves daily exposure to hazardous materials (oxidizers/disinfectants) and requires strict adherence to PPE protocols.
