Description

The production department is seeking an entry-level Laboratory Technician to perform critical laboratory procedures and duties in the manufacture of veterinary products. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of technical equipment while completing cell culture processes throughout the manufacturing cycle. Operating in an aseptic, cleanroom environment, the ideal candidate will safely follow all company policies to help produce vital vaccines.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform core procedures including aseptic work, media preparation, and antigen inoculation and harvest.
  • Complete tissue culture preparation and harvest, alongside filling vaccines.
  • Set up, operate, clean, and sterilize laboratory equipment and glassware for use.
  • Utilize technical equipment such as pH meters, UniFuge systems, and components for precise measurement.
  • Work with embryonic eggs utilized for virus propagation and handle hazardous materials safely (Isopropyl Alcohol, Hydrogen peroxide, Phenolic Disinfectants, Oxidizers).
  • Maintain accurate and reliable records, including charts, logbooks, and all pertinent documentation.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety and company policies, executing duties assigned by department supervision.
  • Communicate any unusual and/or non-routine occurrences promptly when performing tasks.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree OR a High School diploma with commensurate experience.

Experience

  • Required: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) experience and prior SAP experience.
  • Required: Experience reading/following SOPs, practicing aseptic behaviors, and working in an aseptic/cleanroom environment.
  • Preferred: Lab-based experience, some scientific background, and specific vaccine knowledge.
  • Highly Helpful: Cell culturing experience.
  • Skills: Effective writing, oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are highly desirable.

Additional Information

  • Shift Structure: Position requires working a stretch of 4 - 10 hour days.
  • Pre-employment Requirements: A physical abilities test will be required prior to being allowed to start on-site.
