Description
Join the Merck Animal Health division at our BioTechnology Center of Excellence in Millsboro, DE. We are seeking a dedicated Production Technician to support our world-class vaccine manufacturing, packaging, and distribution facility. This is a physically active, non-laboratory role focused on essential production support and material handling. You will play a vital part in maintaining a sterile manufacturing environment and ensuring our animal health products reach those who need them. This role is ideal for a proactive problem-solver who enjoys a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is committed to safety and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-level sanitation duties, including cleaning work areas, tables, walls, and floors to maintain facility standards.
- Manage the preparation, washing, and sterilization of pharmaceutical-grade equipment using Parts Washers and Beta Star autoclaves.
- Execute material handling duties, which include walking outdoors and remaining physically active to gather and transport production supplies.
- Maintain rigorous documentation and concurrent record-keeping in logbooks and SOPs to ensure compliance and quality control.
- Operate specialized machinery, including Waste Decon autoclaves and Steam-In-Place (SIP) systems for large vessels.
- Monitor and report any unusual or non-routine occurrences during tasks to ensure process integrity.
- Assist in the training of new team members and participate in the review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a secure and efficient work environment.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent degree required.
Experience
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems while organizing work to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and effectively relay information to colleagues across various levels.
- Previous experience with autoclaving or sterile environments is preferred but not required.
- Proven track record of maintaining safe work habits and adhering to complex procedures.
Additional Information
- Role Type: This is a production technician/material handling role; it is not a laboratory-based position.
- Physical Requirements: Candidates must be comfortable being on their feet for extended periods and working in outdoor environments as needed.
- Environment: Duties involve working in Class D sterile environments and handling large-scale pharmaceutical equipment.
- Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the shifting demands of the manufacturing process and be willing to rotate into different production areas as needed.
