Chemist II
Position Description:
The Chemist II will perform both GMP and non-GMP testing on pharmaceutical drug products, including HPLC analysis, method development/validation, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards for data integrity. Working under the direction of senior staff, the Chemist will also contribute to technical document creation and review. This role requires the ability to produce high-quality data efficiently while working within a team-oriented laboratory environment. The position is preferably located at the West Point, PA site, though qualified candidates local to Rahway, NJ will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine and complex analyses using HPLC and other analytical techniques
• Execute method development and validation tasks as directed
• Carry out GMP testing, ensuring adherence to regulatory and quality standards
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation in laboratory notebooks and software systems
• Use Empower or other chromatography software to collect and process data
• Participate in data review and contribute to technical report authorship
• Work with Beta-Lactam and OEB 4–5 compounds as needed
• Follow lab protocols, safety guidelines, and SOPs
• Manage multiple assignments and ensure timely completion of deliverables
Skills & Qualifications:
Required Skills:
• BS in Life Sciences or Chemistry
• Minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience
• Hands-on experience with HPLC
• GMP environment experience
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently while producing high-quality data
• Strong understanding of scientific principles and their application to laboratory problems
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with Empower, ChemStation, or similar chromatography data systems
• Experience with dissolution testing
• Familiarity with gas chromatography (GC) and Karl Fischer (KF) techniques
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
