High Throughput – Chemical Biotechnologies
Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated High Throughput Contractor to support chemical biotechnology research through hands-on laboratory work and data-driven experimentation. This role is ideal for a scientist with strong biochemical and analytical expertise who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The position will support high-throughput screening, protein characterization, and automated workflows to accelerate discovery efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Perform high-throughput screening using automated liquid handling systems (e.g., Biomek, Tecan).
- Prepare and execute chemical and biochemical reactions in support of research objectives.
- Conduct protein handling, characterization, and analysis using biochemical, biophysical, and phenotypic techniques.
- Apply analytical methods including HPLC, LC-MS, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis, and FPLC.
- Design and execute experiments using sound experimental design and data analysis principles.
- Analyze, interpret, and document experimental data and results.
- Maintain accurate and complete experimental documentation and reports.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Utilize software tools (Word, Excel) for data tracking, reporting, and documentation.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related field with 5+ years of experience, or
- Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or
- PhD in a related discipline.
Experience:
- Experience in high-throughput screening and automated liquid handling platforms.
- Proficiency in preparing chemical and biochemical reactions.
- Hands-on experience with protein characterization techniques (e.g., activity assays, SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis spectrophotometry).
- Strong understanding of experimental design and data analysis principles.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Experience with next-generation sequencing, directed evolution, protein expression, or microfluidics.
- Experience in protein characterization and purification.
- Experience with protein expression platforms (yeast, bacillus, mammalian) is a plus.
- Experience analyzing data using Python, R, Excel, or similar tools.
- Prior industry experience preferred.
Location: Onsite, lab-based role in Rahway, NJ.
Assignment Length: 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.
