Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented bench scientist to join the Discovery Oncology team in South San Francisco, CA. This role is 100% lab-based and offers the opportunity to contribute to target discovery and validation efforts in oncology research. The scientist will collaborate with dedicated colleagues, utilize advanced techniques in cell biology, and play a critical role in generating and analyzing data to support ongoing research initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform cell-based in vitro functional assays using mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and other molecular techniques.
- Engineer cell lines through CRISPR knockouts, viral transfection, and protein overexpression.
- Conduct experiments involving Western blot, ELISA, and cell isolation from primary tissues.
- Maintain accurate electronic lab notebooks and prepare data reports for internal teams.
- Apply good laboratory practices to ensure high-quality, reproducible results.
- Collaborate across the discovery team to identify and implement new methods and technologies.
- Troubleshoot experimental challenges and contribute to continuous process improvements.
- Support data analysis using FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, Excel, and other relevant tools.
Education
- B.S. or M.S. in Biological Sciences
Experience
- B.S. with 6 years of experience or M.S. with 4 years of relevant experience in academia or industry
- Required skills: mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, functional assays, cell line engineering, and good laboratory practice
- Preferred skills: Western blot, ELISA, cell isolation from primary tissues, in vivo experience a plus
- Software: ELN, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism
